We are often asked the same or similar questions about our services, and thought it would be a good idea to answer the most frequently asked questions here on our website.

Do you offer a postal service?

Yes we do. Our address is 163 Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, HU5 3TL.

Do you supply mailing envelopes?

No. We are a small lab offering a very personalised service. Just put your order into strong packaging with a brief note of your requirements plus contact details, or download and complete our order form.

How much is postage and packing?

First Class postage and packing is just 50p per order.

If you require Recorded Delivery, the cost is £2.00 per order.

If you require Royal Mail Special Delivery the cost is £5.00 per order.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes, £5.00 per order.

How long will it take to process my order?

Virtually all work is completed and dispatched first class on the day of receipt.

How do I pay?

By cheque payable to Photo Express, or include a daytime telephone number with your order and we will call you for credit or debit card details.

Do you print from digital files and in what format?

We can print from CD, DVD, memory card, or USB in jpeg, tiff, or bitmap.

Will I get cut off on my digital pictures?

Most digital pictures are not in the same proportion to some print sizes and some cut off will therefore occur in these instances. Please ask if unsure.

I have found some old films. Will they be ok to develop and will I be charged if they are blank?

Depending on how and where they were stored there will probably be some discolouration but this can sometimes be corrected  when scanned. We don't charge if the film is blank.

Can you transfer my film to CD without making prints?

Yes, the cost is £4.50 per film regardless of film length. Please refer to Films to CD page for details.

Can you scan mounted slides and transfer to CD?

Yes. Please refer to our price list for cost.

To what format do you write CD's and what is the file size?

JPEG format. 35mm films scanned to approximately 2048 x 3072 giving an opened file size of around 18mb per image, and APS films to approximately 1394 x 2444 giving an opened file size of around 10.3mb per image. (Please note: Jpeg's are compressed files and the file sizes quoted are for the opened files.)

Can you put more than one film on to a CD?

Yes, approximately 200 images per CD.

Can you scan in Tiff format?

Yes. The cost is an extra £2.00 per film ie £4.50 plus developing.

Can you put previously developed films on to CD?

Yes. 35mm negs are £5.00 per 36 and APS are just £2.50 per roll regardless of length. Please refer to our price list.

What do you print on to?

We use standard Kodak photographic paper.

Can you print bordered prints?

Yes. Please specify this when ordering, there is no extra cost for bordered prints.

Do you develop B&W / E6 / Medium Format films?

Due to the small volumes we do not process these, although we can develop B&W C41 35mm films.

However, we do cross process E6. There is no extra cost for this  but please specify that you require this service.

Do you develop disposable cameras?

Yes, we treat them as normal films for pricing purposes, for up to 27 exposures use price for 24 exposure film and for 39 exposures use price for 36 exposure film.
